Hump Day

I seem to always have to comment that it is hump day. Why I don't just say it is Wednesday is beyond me. Actually in hind sight it really isn't, I like to hump.. who doesn't? UGH, now I can't get my humps (the song) out of my head.

The week has been quiet so far, I had a fantastic weekend with a great party on Sunday and a couple more on Monday. I finally am busy at work, but it will last about 1/2 way through tomorrow. I am redoing the MLI website right now. Funny thing is this, I redid this months ago but didn't do the content b/c no one would look at it... then on Tuesday I get informed it needs to be done by Friday. WTF??? I love my job.

Listened to the new The Walkmen's and Pearl Jam albums today, very very good stuff I highly recommend.

The next couple weeks in June should be interesting with some good and sad stuff on the horizon.

  • This Sunday (the 4th) I am heading to WV to spread my fathers ashes... this will suck b/c I still am struggling with this whole thing
  • My friend from Chi-town is coming in on the 8th which I am totally psyched for
  • DMB in town the 9th and 10th (sitting front row on the 10th!!!!)
  • former wedding anniversary on the 9th.. ugh
  • fathers day on the 18th double ugh
  • 5 months since dad passed is the 19th... i am just going to be a treat the 18->19
I will try to blog about him and the amazing person he was hopefully over some of these days to help me cope and tell you all more about him.

DMB started their summer tour last night and brought out some old favs... JTR, Raven, and Proudest Monkey. Can't wait to see the boys in about a week!

1st round of darts playoffs are tonight, hopefully we get a big W and move on to the semifinals.

Happy hump day - go out and get some.

PROM!!! and weddings

.. And other random things that happen out of a sunroof of a limo.

Yes, I am way too old to go to prom and the title probably suggests that did.. but anyhow last night I went to pick up my friend so she and I could go to a wedding. We are driving down McNightmare Rd. (McKnight for those non 'burgers) and these kids start popping out of the roof of this limo.

First one is wearing a white tux *GASP* and a white Pirates hat. He comes out points at some guy and yells PROM at the top of his lungs...

Then this other guy and a girl pops out. Mind you my date looked absolutely stunning last night (even though she didn't think so :) ), side bar, HAPPY B-DAY D. So anyhow this kid turns around and sees D and motions for her to call him and starts fingering out his phone number... D had the line of the night saying, what does he think I am a MILF or something? Then two girls pop out and of course since I have to jag the guy for messing with D I yelled take your top off... I don't think they heard me but I could really care less.

So the wedding was great, Kevin and Viki make an amazing couple and I really hope it works out for them. Marriage is such a weird and tough thing and truthfully after being through it I still am not any better of than before I started. Had a great time at the reception and I am really sad to have to say goodbye to some good friends. Chuck and Rachel are moving to NC and Rachel is working at Duke. Rachel is one of the first girls I met in the sportsleague and now I hang out with the 4-6 girls all the time.. gonna miss them a ton. Also another person is moving to London, which is great for her. I hate to see people leave the 'burgh b/c that is what always happens, but hopefully it is for the best and I wish them all the happiness in the world.

I hit 3 new bars this weekend so lets run them down:

Buckhead Saloon: This place is supposed to look like a "cabin" and it does a pretty good job at that. Cover is $5 (I hate paying cover) and parking is atrocious in Station Square now. $8 f'ing dollars for the surface lots. That is robbery. The drinks were cheap for a while, Capt'n and coke was $2 until 10:30 (they said usually midnight). The band was really good they actually mixed their songs all together and really liked the Ramones. Younger crowd but a good bit of fine looking females in attendance.

Saddle Ridge: Country people rejoice this is your place. Country all the time, mechanical bull etc. I really liked the place, the women were unreal and it was a great time. I am not a big line dancer, but they played some good music and I got a little bit of a groove on.

Town Tavern: This place is interesting.. you don't have to pay to get into the downstairs but there is a cover to get into the upstairs to dance. The place is extremely dark, I couldn't scope chicks too well b/c I couldn't see them but it seems to be a cool place. Waitresses on the bar dancing pouring shots down peoples throats... can't complain about that. I was only there about an hour and a half so I have to go back to further evaluate.

All in all a good weekend so far. I haven't got a damn thing done at home, but who cares .. it is a holiday. Heading out for a party here later this afternoon that I know will just be crazy. Looking forward to it..

Hope everyone is having a safe and great holiday weekend

Trader Joe's + Techno geek stuff

Just a short tid bit of info today....

Pittsburgh is finally getting a Trader Joes !!!

Read the Post Gazette Article

Otherwise today has been a low key day. I had to do some "CSI" work on someones pc here today which was quite interesting. What I found disapointed me heavily.

Microsoft is having there Hardware Engineering Conference this week so we got to see a little more of Vista and the new slideshow technology but what I am really excited about is they released the public beta for Microsoft Office. You can get it here

I like it so far, it is totally different than what you are used to but I like the new features.

The Motorola Q got announced yesterday it will be $199 from verizon with a new contract, I have sprint right now but it looks like a pretty kick ass phone. A good link to gadget news is in random link (work safe) over to the right ->

Yes I am showing my "geekdom" here.. but hey it is who I am!

Happy hump day... go out there and get some!

people and their need to share their opinions about you

Can someone tell me why everyone in this world thinks they are Dr. Phil (who is a douche btw) or some psychologist.

While I am on the subject I will take a tangent on Dr. Phil. I swear he is the reason guys get laid less these days. Who in the hell does he think he is giving relationship advice when he can't even salvage his OWN relationship!!! What a freaking quack.

Ok so back to the original point of my rant. Last night I was at my kickball game; yes I play kickball don't knock it until you try it; and talking before the game. I don't remember what I was saying but most likely I was kidding around with our Captain giving him a hard time about something. Well some girl decided to interject and here was the convo. We will refer to her as DB.. and yes I think you know what DB stands for, if you don't... dumb bitch comes to my mind.

DB: aren't we just here to have fun?
BB: Yes but I would also like to win.
DB: Well if kickball is your life, then you need a serious adjustment
BB: {flaming mad} Who are you to judge me, you don't even know me! (I am sure a fuck you or fuck off went into that also.

Why do people constantly think they need to tell you how you should live your life. I would love to see her step in my shoes for one day with the shit I have dealt with over the past year. She just met me something like 7 weeks ago and hasn't said a damn word to me other than hello.

I admit I am competitive, but I still have fun.. and especially this year. While I miss my old team, specifically the ladies, (we split teams because of the large team size etc..), we have had an excellent ref and only 1 team that is really obnoxious so it has made it a really good time. I am glad it is back to that b/c that is how kickball was for me for a long time until a few recent seasons where the team just got so big everyone was sharing positions and you just didn't play much..

As you can see I tend to digress at times so back to the main focus here..

I don't mind people giving me "advice" when I SOLICIT IT. That is why I have friends that I depend on. For those of you that I do depend on, thank you for being there. I will never understand why people do that. Truthfully offering some advice is ok with me when it is a discussion but to come out and put someone's "life choices" down is just way to much for me. I thought I would be nice and accept the lame apology I got which was: sorry I offended you, not I was wrong to say that... but you know I really don't care. I don't plan on being friends with her and previously I would have sucked it up and just be nice to her. Well things have changed and truthfully I don't have deal with anyone's shit or be nice to anyone unless I want to. So no more trying to please everyone, I am just going to worry about making ME happy

bored at work..

I should have followed my instincts and called off sick today. This place just blows and I really loathe being here. Thank god for myspace and my favorite friend from Chi-town :)

What to talk about today.... hmmm.. I don't have anything interesting going on except I might have heard the BEST excuse for not showing up somewhere that you are supposed to..

"My aunt's cat stole my phone and hid it".

Now if that isn't a stretch, I don't know what is.

Puma's Pride (my flag football team) dropped to 0-6 on a crappy call at the end of the game that cost us our 2 pt conversion and we lost 19-18. We have this week off and then maybe we will win a game.

The countdown begins, DMB coming to the burgh on June 9th -10th. Sitting front row on the 10th!!

Thats it for today, unless something interesting happens.

The weekend so far..

The weekend has been good and bad I guess so far. Friday was a tough day for me and I thought that I would be able to write about it more, but I still am not there yet. Hopefully soon..

Friday was the 19th and 4 months ago on the 19th is when my Father passed away. My father and I talked pretty much every day and that is what makes it even more difficult. I always called on my way home from work and he was always at his local watering hole with his friends. My dad was one of the easiest people to be with and I don't know of anyone that didn't like him. He could talk to just about anyone. I miss him dearly..

I try to harness those social qualities that he had, and I think I am a pretty good replica in that sense because I like to meet new people and tend to be extremely outgoing.

So Friday day was pretty harsh, Friday night was a great time.

Strippin with the PUMA IV... I love Dejavu, I just need to get an apartment there. For the first time in a long time there was no drama at this party. My group of friends tends to have a lot of drama and for the first time there was none. I was particularity worried when one red headed devil entered into the scene. She is DRAMA .. nothing but. Luckily we stayed clear of each other and the evening ended well.

Today has been a pretty chill day, I went with the Puma to see his new house and get him a bicycle and had some lunch.. other than that I am just chilling at home.

I am always trying to figure out women and I feel that I never will. Today was one of those situations where I had talked about going to a movie with another person but had made no definites. She said I think we should see another movie besides the Davinci Code because It will be packed.. I said I didn't realize we were going to the movies for sure. This lead to the statement: Well I don't want to hang out with people that don't want to hang out with me.

What are we 7 years old??? *sigh* .. so I haven't talked to her since and I don't know what is going on in general with her. She doesn't feel "comfortable" around my group of friends which is a major problem with me.. so who knows.

Hopefully one day I will figure out women, until then ... I will just play dumb :)

Big Daddy doesn't do grass skirts

You are probably wondering what that title refers to... well it is a LONG story but here is the short version. My friend's girlfriend called me something one time and I said well you can just call me daddy. She said how about Big Daddy? Well Dwight overheard this (his blog is linked on this page) and has ever since referred to me as Big Daddy...

Today we were chatting about this luau party and I said Big Daddy doesn't do grass skirts... so that is where that comes from.. nothing funny I guess, but ladies if you want to find out if the name fits the prize.. call me up! ;)

So my normal morning routine usually involves me changing clothes like 3 times to find what I think looks good today and it made me start thinking about self confidence (SC). SC is such a volatile thing... sometimes you think you have achieved some level of SC then the next day it is the exact opposite. I find SC to be so consuming. I used to be confident, but that was when my life was going down a path that I thought was the right one..

but, things change as we all know. So what gives you SC, is it that 3rd shirt you try on in the morning, is it compliments, is it just a general swagger you might have, is it having a good date ? I can't seem to answer these questions these days and I hope that I soon can. But what I really question is am I giving others the SC they need?

I question myself that if I give enough compliments, or thank yous etc.. to help build a friends SC but at the same time I notice no matter what you say, sometimes it just doesn't get through even as hard as you try.

So what is all this rambling about? I am asking the same thing but lets call it my quest for Self Confidence... truthfully SC comes from how you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror. No matter how many compliments, thank you's etc.. you might receive I still think the doubt doesn't go away, so confidence has to come from deep within and you have to harness those compliments etc.. and use them as positive "power" rather than shrugging them off.

This is something I need to work on. I am assuming SC leads to "happiness" and when I refer to happy I refer to not having a crappy day, just doing your thing and not being pissed, or upset or against the world.

So for those 1-2 of you that read this thing, SC is a virtue and if you have it.. then you are set. If not, get out there and find it.

updating saving the day..

Well the meeting just ended and the person in from the Department of Labor loved the book... hopefully my extra work today will pay off for once but I am pessimistic at best that no one here will recognize it.

Can I scream now? Thank god I am seeing DMB in less than a month!

Saving the Day... Again

So.. here we are in day 2 of this experiment and today will begin the rant portion of this blog.

I tend to have this problem at work where I see something not being done well, or right or at all and I step in and do it. Granted the product produced is about 100x better but, the person assigned to it seems to always get credit. So, yesterday this situation arose and I decided I am not going to help, I am just doing my part. My boss also directed me to do this.

Well, I come in this morning and proceed to get yelled at because the work (that I wasn't supposed to do wasn't done correctly)... so I redid it, the whole book. It took me all morning to clean up this mess and I guarantee that I will once again get the shaft. Luckily my boss has made it very clear to upper mgmt that I am not the one at fault here so I guess I can once again hope that these idiots do something .. but I have a feeling it will go as it always does and they will hand him another raise and another promotion and I will sit here with a sore ass.

The place I work at just amazes me... and I really don't get how it can be this way. We have staff that think they run the place and they can't even use Microsoft office or answer the g.d. phone properly. We have staff who gives work only to the vendors who sleep with them. I just don't get it. As much as I may hate my place of employment I would never bad mouth them to a guest or a potential client... these people seem to thrive on doing that. I guess just spreading your legs, or in my case spreading someone elses legs and not doing your job gets you ahead in life. Why didn't I learn this in College??? The leg spreading came AFTER class and work and homework!!

So moving on.. It has been a crazy week so far having something every night a 6:30.. but the rest of the week is worth looking forward to. Minus the traumatic day the 19th is for me (more to come on Friday about this) I am really excited for Strippin with the Puma IV..

So I guess I will leave it at that for today. Everyone seems to have a different approach to this whole blogging thing so my approach is just going to be to spew whatever the hell comes into my mind on to this "paper"

Happy Hump day

Why not?

I have avoided the whole blogging thing for a long time now, but I figured what the hell. It seems to me to be a good outlet and place to share thoughts my many many rants and whatever the hell else I feel like..

Will I keep this up ? Who knows...
Will it be interesting? Most likely not

Either way, lets call it an experiment into the depths of my mind and hope that I come out looking somewhat sane.
