Mexico here I come

I am off to a week in the Caribbean ... I will try to blog a little from the boat but it is supposed to be pricey so it might be random. Can't wait for a week off!!

Local Politics

So it seems that Peduto will pull out of the mayor's race today unless he is pulling some huge stunt press conference. I am pretty disappointed in this for the simple fact that there should be some competition within politics. I am so tired of reading about people getting thrown off of ballots b/c of loop holes or whatever else is found as a problem. Win or Lose I wanted to see a real mayors race.

While Luke seems to be doing a fine job, I wanted to see how he would react under pressure. The simple fact that he became mayor after Bobby O died and now will get seat again handed to him just bothers me. I continue to believe that he will do a good job. I continue to believe that him going to NY with the Pens owner is not a problem (who gives a shit.. he went and had fun and hopefully got a lap dance).

I have a friend that works for him and him continuing as mayor keeps his job which is great, because he does a good job at it. It is also a huge bonus having a young person as a mayor in a city were young people have never been the focus.

So I guess Luke is it.. and we should all raise our glasses to the next 4 years of "Pittsburgh Moving Forward" (if you don't get the drinking reference check out the burgh blog).

Still don't get it

I really wonder where I steered wrong with things. I can't seem to figure out why this crap continues to happen and what I did to deserve it.

So I get home from a great weekend in Chi-town to my tree in my front yard being cut AGAIN, this time by the power company. My once beautiful tree is now pretty much gone. There was crap everywhere that they didn't clean up AND my whole yard smells like gasoline. Just freaking fantastic.

Work is still a drag. They are basically promoting the secretary up to management since a couple people have left. This person can't even answer the phone right yet they are now going to be in charge of basically everything. Just fantastic. I went to ask the President about taking over Project Control (because I am the only one that knows how to use the software) and he said well he and this secretary will be doing it, but I am a good resource since I am teaching a Project Mgmt. class and he would stew on it. Which in FG speak means, I don't want to tell you no so I will just give you some lame ass answer to make you think I am considering it.

I still haven't received my review yet we are supposedly getting raises this pay check (Friday). It has been over 20 months since the last one which is bullshit and I seriously doubt I will ever see the extra money.

SS is having a rough time at work also and it is totally not her fault. From what I can tell she does a great job with her kids and the Administration just is on a power trip.

All I can say is Mexico is in 4 days.. and I need to get the hell out of here.

Snow Days

Since more snow has hit the ground last night till this morning, I started thinking about snow days. For those of you that don't know my mom is a teacher the northern West Virginia School districts cancel school a lot. Granted some of the back roads that have to be traveled a school bus shouldn't be on when it is 95 degrees out.. so I understand.

My digression leads to this: If school is cancelled (which Pittsburgh Public Schools are today), why do I have to come to work? I mean really aren't the roads just as dangerous for me as them? Granted, I don't have to stand out in the cold waiting for bus, but I do have to shovel my ass out, clean my car, slide across the Westinghouse bridge, drive through McKeesport who for whatever reason doesn't do shit to their roads and then drive in to the industrial park where the main road has never been plowed 1 time...

Awesome isn't it?

So I pose the question.. where is my fucking snow day!!!!!
